A True Washingtonian does use Umbrellas

I can’t even believe I am attempting to go out and observe today. It is raining really hard and the wind is making matters worse. I feel like I am in the middle of a monsoon or possible hurricane. Even sitting in my car thinking about getting out to walk along the beach is crazy at this point. Only people who have to be outside go out in this, although my friend who is with me keeps telling me that as a true Washingtonian I should get out there in the rain with no umbrella and love it. I glared at her and then got out of the car to make my observations. I was umbrella-less mainly because I don’t own one, in fact I think my friend is right no one who is from here that I know owns an umbrella, weird.

As we walked, the rain seemed to come down harder and the wind seem to blow stronger so we walked faster and faster. There was only one other person on the beach today, they were walking their dogs and looked as miserable as I am sure we did. About 10 minutes into the walk, my friend and I decided that was enough as we were drenched and chilled to the bone. We ran back to the car and cranked the heater. As we sat in the car I began to image what it much have been like for the native tribes in this region.
